Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman met with U.S. National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan to review the final drafts of strategic agreements between the two countries.

According to AFP, Saudi state media reported that the meeting between Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and U.S. National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan took place in the eastern Saudi city of Dhahran.

Saudi media reported that Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and Jake Sullivan reviewed the final drafts of strategic agreements between the U.S. and Saudi Arabia, which are in the final stages of completion.

These agreements are seen as part of Washington’s efforts to secure Saudi recognition of the state of Israel, which have become more complex following the Israeli attacks on Gaza.

Both parties also discussed Gaza and agreed on the need for an immediate cessation of hostilities, emphasizing the entry of international humanitarian aid into Gaza. The meeting also covered the progress made so far towards a two-state solution.

According to the White House, Jake Sullivan will visit Israel after his trip to Saudi Arabia to discuss the conflict.

It is worth noting that the Biden administration has been working for some time to secure an agreement for Saudi Arabia to recognize Israel in exchange for stronger security ties with Washington.

Prior to the conflict that started on October 7 last year, following an attack on Israel by Hamas, Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman stated in an interview with American media that they were getting closer to normalizing relations day by day.

However, the devastation in Gaza and the deaths of thousands of Palestinians over the past seven months have hampered these efforts.

According to Israeli figures, the October 7 attack by Hamas resulted in 1,170 deaths, mostly civilians.

According to Gaza’s Ministry of Health, Israeli brutality has so far resulted in the deaths of 35,386 people, including a large number of women and children.
