Karachi flour prices Announced by Commissioner Karachi and Controller General Prices and Supplies, Syed Hassan Naqvi, have rolled out new flour prices that promise some relief to consumers.
Detailed Karachi Flour Pricing Breakdown
According to the latest notification:
- The retail price of regular flour (No. 2.5) from flour mills is now set at 94 PKR per kilogram, down by 4 PKR from the previous official price of 98 PKR.
- The wholesale price has been adjusted to 90 PKR, a reduction of 3 PKR from the former rate of 93 PKR. Additionally, the ex-mill price for regular flour (No. 2.5) is now 87 PKR per kilogram, a decrease from the prior 90 PKR.
- The ex-mill price for fine chakki flour is 92 PKR per kilogram, while its wholesale price is set at 95 PKR. The retail price for fine flour is now 99 PKR per kilogram.
- Chakki flour’s retail price has been revised to 115 PKR per kilogram, which is 8 PKR lower than the previous rate of 123 PKR.
Karachi Flour Prices Comparison with Previous Prices
Compared to May 2024, the official price of fine flour has significantly decreased by 18 PKR, dropping from 117 PKR to 99 PKR per kilogram. Despite these reductions, naan sellers continue to charge 20-25 PKR for naan and 12-15 PKR for chapati, with no changes seen in the prices of bakery items such as bread, buns, rusk, and biscuits.
Enforcement and Compliance
The Commissioner of Karachi has issued a stern warning in the new notification, mandating shopkeepers and flour sellers to prominently display the official price list. Strict legal actions will be taken against those who fail to comply with these new regulations.
