Efforts Underway for Safe Return of Pakistanis from Syria: PM Shehbaz Sharif

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif stated that measures are being taken to ensure the return of Pakistanis from Syria via Lebanon’s land route. Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar is in contact with Pakistani ambassadors in Syria and Lebanon.

While addressing a federal cabinet meeting, Shehbaz Sharif said that the situation in Syria has drastically changed in the past few days. He emphasized the importance of taking immediate action to facilitate the return of Pakistanis stranded in Syria.

He mentioned that 250 Pakistani pilgrims had traveled to Syria, while around 300 citizens, including teachers and students already residing there, also wish to return to Pakistan.

The Prime Minister shared that he had spoken with Lebanon’s Prime Minister the previous day to ensure the safe return of Pakistanis via Lebanon. He confirmed that arrangements for their return have been finalized following discussions with Lebanese officials and Pakistani diplomats in Syria and Lebanon.


Weekly Inflation Rate Declines Further to 3.57%

Shehbaz Sharif noted that the weekly inflation rate had decreased further to 3.57%. He highlighted that peace and economic stability are crucial for Pakistan’s development and growth.

The Prime Minister also revealed that Azerbaijan’s ambassador had expressed a desire for preparatory work on identifying and assessing projects for Azerbaijan’s $2 billion investment in Pakistan before his February visit.

He urged cabinet members to focus on maintaining political stability, which he deemed essential for the country’s progress.


‘Those Assaulting Islamabad Will Not Be Spared’

The Prime Minister said he chaired a law and order meeting the previous day and directed authorities to take strict action against individuals involved in attacks on Islamabad and conspiracies against Pakistan. He assured that innocent people would not be targeted and stressed the importance of political stability for achieving economic stability.

Shehbaz Sharif further stated that Pakistan has seen a record increase in remittances compared to the previous year, reflecting the trust of overseas Pakistanis.

He criticized PTI founder Imran Khan’s call for “civil disobedience,” labeling it a grave act of hostility against Pakistan, yet noted that remittances continued to rise despite this.
