No Evidence of Suicide in Sania Zahra Case; She Was Murdered: Azma Bukhari

Punjab Information Minister Uzma Bukhari, addressing the Sania Zahra murder case, stated that her death was not due to suicide. Evidence indicates that she was murdered.

Speaking at a press conference in Lahore alongside Hina Pervaiz, she mentioned that under the directive of the Chief Minister of Punjab, this case has been treated as a test case.

The Punjab Information Minister explained that when someone hangs themselves, their neck typically elongates, but there is no evidence of suicide in Sania Zahra’s case related to this hanging.

She claimed that the noose was placed around Sania Zahra’s neck by her mother-in-law and husband to make it appear as a suicide. The forensic lab report, established by former Punjab Chief Minister and current Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, confirms that the dupatta tied around Sania Zahra’s neck was not the cause of her death; she had already been murdered before the scene was staged as a suicide.

Uzma Bukhari further stated that the wounds on Sania Zahra’s neck and shoulders are not consistent with those caused by the dupatta.

She added that, as a criminal lawyer, she can confidently say that the evidence clearly points to this being a murder case, which will be easy to prove in court.

She mentioned that the Chief Minister of Punjab had given strict instructions that this case should be treated as a test case and that all scientific methods should be employed.

She also revealed that samples from Sania Zahra’s nails had been taken, and the DNA matched that of her husband. Given this, there is no longer any doubt that this is a murder case being disguised as a suicide.

Uzma Bukhari expressed her gratitude to Chief Minister of Punjab Maryam Nawaz for taking significant steps towards improving women’s safety in the province. Maryam Nawaz has been instrumental in the establishment of virtual police stations, which provide support to women.

It is worth noting that in early July, 20-year-old Sania Zahra was brutally murdered in the city of Multan, Punjab.

On July 14, a post-mortem report for Syeda Sania Zahra was released, stating that the marks on her neck were consistent with those of hanging and that her death was due to suffocation caused by hanging.

The report also indicated that the bone in her neck was not broken, and there were no signs of wounds or injuries on her body. Samples from her stomach, liver, and spleen were sent to the PFSA for further analysis, and the report confirmed that she was not pregnant at the time of her death.

On July 20, Multan police arrested the victim’s husband, Ali Raza, who was named as a suspect in the alleged suicide case of religious leader Asad Shah’s daughter, Sania Zahra.
