In the wake of the Supreme Court’s decision regarding reserved seats, reactions from leaders of the ruling party, Pakistan Muslim League (N), have emerged.
It is noteworthy that the Supreme Court of Pakistan ruled that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) is entitled to reserved seats in the national and provincial assemblies.
Federal Law Minister Azam Nazir Tarar expressed his disappointment during a press conference, stating that the brief decision was disheartening. He mentioned that the Sunni Ittehad Council had made a claim, and PTI received relief on reserved seats even though they were neither a party to the case nor had filed any application.
He said, “The Supreme Court’s decision on reserved seats is a mismatch. We will decide our course of action after consulting political parties.”

Azam Nazir Tarar stated that 80 members never approached any forum and joined the Sunni Ittehad Council. No member of the Sunni Ittehad Council can be non-Muslim.
He said, “We will bow to the Supreme Court’s decision. The brief judgment is painful for me. I was asked about approaching the court, but all federal government decisions are made in the cabinet.”
Azam Nazir Tarar added, “I cannot say anything without the cabinet’s decision. I reserve the right to comment until the detailed decision is issued. The best decisions are those with no confusion. The current government is not in danger; it has a majority in the National Assembly with the support of 208 or 209 members.”
He further stated that the global ranking of our judiciary is low, the accountability system in the country should be improved, political cases have entangled the courts, and political parties are more involved in cases than providing relief to the people.
