PTI to call for protest this month: Sher Afzal Marwat

Sher Afzal Marwat stated that the decision for a protest has been finalized, and PTI will announce the protest call this month. He explained that the differences within the party were not created by him. “No one can tolerate opposition against Khan. Differences exist within the party, and they need to be resolved,” he said. Marwat further added that, although delayed, the decision for the protest has been made, and its announcement will happen this month. “Pakistan urgently needs a protest. If 300,000 to 400,000 people can topple the government in Bangladesh, why can’t it happen in Pakistan?”

Sher Afzal Marwat emphasized that the decision for protest is final, and it will be announced this month. “We have delayed the protest, but Pakistan desperately needs it,” he added. The PTI protest will be based on issues such as unrest, rule of law, true freedom, judiciary, and media independence.

He acknowledged that rallies and gatherings could be affected by internal disagreements but expressed confidence that those loyal to Khan will show up. “Once we start protesting, a committee will be formed with consensus from all. After February 8, we tried to be seen as human, but it didn’t happen. Seats were snatched from us, Khan is imprisoned, PTI’s leadership in Lahore is also jailed, and they are trying to suppress us through force. We have no choice but to protest openly. However, if a dialogue is initiated before the protest, we will welcome it,” Marwat said.

He also highlighted that the state has never been able to fully suppress the public with force in history. “People are being taken from their homes, the sanctity of private spaces is being violated, and the public has grown to hate this system. If 300,000 to 400,000 people can overthrow the government in Bangladesh, why can’t the same happen in Pakistan?”

Addressing the internal party issues, Marwat stated that the disagreements were not his doing. “Since I hadn’t met Khan for three months, once I did, all misunderstandings were cleared. My connection is with Khan alone, and I have no involvement with others,” he said.

He pointed out that in the past, party meetings were often leaked to the media, and those responsible for such actions have now been addressed, with such incidents reducing significantly.

He concluded by saying that PTI is a party where no one can form factions, especially not against Khan, as he is the source of strength. “No one can tolerate opposition to Khan. There are differences in the party, but they need to be resolved.”
