Due to the ongoing Tension in Kurram , the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has initiated an air service using provincial helicopters for transportation within the area.
Helicopter Service for Kurram
Under the special directives of the Chief Minister, a helicopter service has been launched for Kurram. Recently, the provincial government’s MI-17 helicopter made two flights from Peshawar to Kurram.
Evacuation and Transportation Efforts
Through these flights, 53 individuals, including 14 patients, were transported from Parachinar to Peshawar. Additionally, the first flight today carried 16 individuals, including Jirga members and government staff, to Parachinar. The second flight of the day transported 27 people from Parachinar to Tall, while the third flight aims to relocate those stranded in Tall back to Parachinar. Overall, five flights are scheduled today, set to transport over a hundred individuals.
Ongoing Aid and Supplies
Provincial authorities have confirmed that the helicopter service will continue to meet the area’s medical supply needs. Yesterday, 1,850 kilograms of medicines, worth 12 million PKR, were delivered to Parachinar from Peshawar. In total, the helicopter has conducted seven flights to supply medicines in Kurram.
